Stainless Steel Sheet Metal Fabrication
Longveld are experts at food-grade sheet metal fabrication of specialist process and packaging equipment, tanks, silos, ducting, electrical cabinetry, conduit and trunking. Many of our customers involve us early on in their design process so that we can use our fabrication knowledge to help ensure the most productive and problem-free result.
We are preferred suppliers in dairy, food and beverage applications to global customers such as Fonterra, Nu-Con and AB Mauri.
We also have over 10 years experience in road tanker fabrication. Longveld has a long-standing contract to fabricate, retrofit and maintain Fonterra's milk tanker fleet and we carry out wine tanker repairs for Alexander Transport.
Pressure Vessels & Pipe Work
We have the capability, experience and facilities to manufacture pressure vessels from carbon steel and austenitic stainless, as well as from specialty metals such as:
- duplex stainless
- ferritic stainless
- chrome moly
We are highly sought after for certified pressure pipe welding and general maintenance services for the energy industry. As part of our welding maintenance contract since 2002 with Genesis Energy's Huntly Power Station we have completed super heater header repairs on 500ID, 100mm wall thickness chrome moly pipe designed for 200bar, 540°C steam.
Longveld has completed projects designed to AS-NZS, BSEN and ASME standards. We own procedures under these standards and have a team qualified and experienced under these procedures for both workshop and on-site projects.
Our trades people will accompany our fabrication projects anywhere in the world to provide expert site installation services. Around one third of our New Zealand team are migrants for whom English is a second language so our people are accustomed to communicating through language barriers. Our teams are experienced in supervising locally hired crews, training them in the skills required to get the job done and working with limited amenities, mostly recently in Suzhou China.
Project: Chilled Water Reticulation System - carbon and stainless steel
Customer: Downer EDI Engineering Ltd for Telecom NZ Ltd
Location: Hamilton and Auckland, New Zealand
This project involved a chilled water upgrade for two Telecom data centres to provide additional cooling for new and existing data units. The specification comprised pre-spooling and fabrication of approximately 2.5km of 80 to 200NB SCH10 304L pipe SCH40 carbon steel pipe with all welding to ASME B31.1 standard.
